Jack's banding career began as a seven year old cornetist in a Salvation
Army Young People's Band. Jack came from a musical family with his
father being bandmaster of the senior band in the Salvation Army and
his two brothers both being bandsmen.
During the 1950's Jack lived in London and had to keep several jobs to
continue his music lessons but at that time London was simply too
expensive to stay and Jack moved back to Northern Ireland. Jack played
music with the First Old Boys competing in several competitions.
