Janine started playing the cornet at the age of seven in her local
Primary School. After much debate she moved onto the baritone
at age 10 and was placed at Belfast Music festival with
‘Nessun Dorma’, the adjudicator inquired had she heard the piece
sung by Pavorotti, to which she replied she hadn’t, but her Dad
frequently sang it in the shower. Janine later moved onto the
euphonium and played her first duet ‘Deep Inside the Sacred
Temple’ with her Dad.  With another change Janine moved onto
Trombone. Starting initially on second trombone she worked her
way up to solo trombone, her first solo being ‘Berceuse De Jocelyn’
which she has played with the Fodens Richardson Band in Armagh
and with Newtownards at a recent concert in Belfast Citadel. Janine
also won the best Under 25 player at the 2006 Armagh summer
school and was a member of the five piece ensemble that won the
street musicians competition during the same event.
